About Potash

In 2021, BHP approved a CA$7.5 billion investment in Jansen Stage 1 in Saskatchewan, Canada, which is aligned with their strategy of growing exposure to future facing commodities in world-class assets. Potash opens a new front for growth and is an expandable resource that can support a century or more of operations. Potash provides BHP with greater diversification by commodity, country, and customer.

Purpose

Reporting to the BHP Operating System (BOS) Line Coach, the BOS Line Technical Specialist contributes to identifying, scoping, and delivering ongoing business improvement opportunities to the Jansen Potash Operations. 

Work Location

This position will be based out of the downtown office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and will be regularly scheduled to work at the Jansen Potash site. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

About the Role

  • Drives business improvement through the measurement of BHP's performance
  • Coaches individuals and teams in the application of BOS principles, practices, and tools by building rapport, providing feedback and overcoming barriers to BOS implementation to support the achievement of the global BOS transformation
  • Applies an understanding of business terminology, key operational processes, and key business activities within and between functional areas (e.g., finance, supply, procurement, work management)
  • Identifies, implements, and evaluates the success of continuous improvement activities/initiatives to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of BHP systems and processes

  • Proven experience influencing leaders and teams
  • Facilitating change management
  • Assessing capability and providing critical feedback
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools is an advantage

Skills, accreditations, and qualifications:

  • A passionate improvement mindset is key to this role
  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience and exposure to the mining industry
  • Knowledge of mining or Potash mining business operations, processes, and functions is an advantage
  • Ability to sustainably implement continuous improvement behaviours
  • Experience as a supervisor or coaching operational leadership
