About the Role
The Manager Corporate Communications role is responsible for developing and executing global communications strategies that help build trust in BHP and enable the company’s growth. The manager will lead and develop a team of highly capable communications professionals responsible for shaping and sharing BHP’s global story.
This role can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth or Melbourne.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, your accountabilities will include:
- Leading a Corporate Communications team responsible for creating, refining and sharing BHP’s corporate narrative and global key messages.
- Developing high-quality long-form editorial content and executive thought leadership and partnering with Digital, Media, Leadership Communications and Investor Relations teams to ensure it reaches BHP’s key audiences.
- Identifying and executing opportunities to support global and regional advocacy campaigns on key issues relevant to BHP.
- Developing and maintaining trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders at all levels, and working closely with local and regional teams to achieve measurable results.
- Maintaining and overseeing key group communications governance and risk controls, including speeches and presentations, global issues management and the group crisis communications plan and associated preparedness exercises.
- Supporting the drafting and release of the Annual Report and other publications in the corporate reporting suite.
- Supporting shareholder communication, external and internal content and channel management, speechwriting, publications, project and transaction communication as required.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated senior communications professional with exceptional editorial and content skills, corporate communication experience, and the ability to create as well as execute strategy. Experience as a journalist or editor will be highly regarded.
We are also seeking attributes such as:
- Exceptional writing, editing and content development skills.
- An audience first mindset and a good understanding of digital measurement and message testing.
- Experience developing communications strategies for external and internal audiences.
- Strong understanding of global, regional and national policy and business environment and its impact on BHP.
- Ability to build trust with and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to collaborate and lead cross-functional teams from across the company.
