Work Location

Santiago, Chile or Toronto, Canada  40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

Total Rewards

The starting annual salary range for this role is $188,000 - 236,000 CAD.  Additional rewards includes a short-term incentive bonus program, health plan, personal spending account, dental, life insurance, and pension.

Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment, this role is a subject matter expert that sets and leads the strategic direction on security and crisis emergency management (CEM) across Exploration.  It supports the development, deployment and governance of standards and initiatives through indirect leadership of the security and CEM disciplines. 

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Govern the development and maintenance of Security and CEM processes, systems and documents within Exploration.
  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement in CEM to ensure that response and management teams have the right capabilities, tools and systems to respond and recover from events.
  • Provide governance over the management of security risks and continually review and improve the  effectiveness of security controls and management systems within Exploration.
  • Define mechanisms to build and maintain capability in security and CEM within Exploration.
  • Actively monitor current and prospective jurisdictions for security related threats, and establishes proactive plans.
  • Support HSSE due diligence of, and assurance on third party opportunities in areas of technical expertise.
  • Provide coaching and support to customers to build Security and CEM capability.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Leverage deep subject matter expertise, knowledge of the business, industry and analytical capabilities to solve complex problems and opportunities relevant to HSSE.
  • Monitor Security and CEM performance and control effectiveness to support capability building, and to identify risks to BHP.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in security, CEM or a related discipline.
  • Multi country / regional experience.
  • Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills, with ability to adapt to suit target audience.
  • Demonstrated experience across Security and CEM disciplines, preferably in the resources industry and inclusive of time at an operational level.
  • Experience across multiple commodities and regulatory jurisdictions including exposure from working in global teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence multiple levels within an organisation and stakeholders.
