About the Role

 

We are seeking a commercially astute and operationally focused finance leader to join our Asset Finance team as Manager Finance Business Partnering – Eastern Pilbara (Newman and Jimblebar).

 

This is a critical leadership role that acts as the finance leader and trusted advisor to the General Manager and Site Leadership Team, driving value creation, financial discipline and operational performance. As the "CFO" of the operation, you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, influencing decision making and ensuring resources are allocated to maximise value for the business.

 

You will lead a team of Finance Business Partners and work closely with operational and functional leaders to deliver financial plans, challenge performance, strengthen cost discipline and identify opportunities to improve productivity and financial outcomes.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Act as the finance leader for the operation, ensuring activities are aligned to business strategy, value creation and value preservation recommendations.
  • Partner with the General Manager and Site Leadership Team to develop, challenge and deliver operational plans, budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and commercial insight to support operational and investment decisions.
  • Drive productivity improvement across unit cost, capital efficiency and workforce performance.
  • Lead the development and review of business cases, investment evaluations and capital allocation decisions to maximise value outcomes.
  • Ensure strong cost discipline and effective operation of the site's System of Cost Control through rigorous performance management and coaching.
  • Deliver meaningful financial insights, identifying risks, opportunities and trade-offs to improve business performance and decision quality.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and partner across the business to deliver sustainable bottom-line benefits.
  • Embed and promote the BHP Operating System (BOS) through disciplined routines, performance management and waste elimination.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, fostering an inclusive, collaborative and psychologically safe culture.
  • Build strong relationships across Operations, Planning & Reporting, Accounting, Asset Projects, Procurement, HR and other functional teams.

 

About You

 

You are a highly capable finance professional with a strong track record of partnering with operational leaders to deliver business outcomes.

You bring commercial acumen, leadership capability and the confidence to challenge, influence and drive performance improvement.

 

You will ideally possess:

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in finance business partnering, commercial finance or operational finance leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead discussions on value creation, capital allocation and business performance.
  • Strong financial planning, forecasting, investment evaluation and business case development skills.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in large-scale operational, mining, resources, manufacturing or heavy industry environments will be highly regarded.
