About the Role

 

Reporting into the Head of GBS HR Payroll, you will be a key part of the global payroll team, a team of forward thinking and engaging professionals that love to work in a high-paced environment. This role leads a team of three direct reports, including two regional payroll solution and assurance managers and the global time & attendance manager, ensuring alignment and execution of payroll solutions and assurance activities across BHP. As part of this role you will redefine, standardize, control and continually improve pay impacting processes globally.

 

You will be responsible for the following

 

  • Lead, coordinate & support all change impacting payroll (including globally consistent solution design) across all Global Payroll teams.
  • Actively promote, coordinate & support the business implementation of the multi-year Global Payroll strategy, under the leadership of the Head of GBS HR Payroll.
  • Define, maintain and continually evolve the global payroll process design and standards.
  • Drive the continued modernisation of Global Payroll within BHP based on industry best practice, new technologies and methodologies.
  • Drive operational excellence, productivity, automation, and simplification across the Global Payroll function.
  • Proactive engagement with multiple senior stakeholders & 3rd party providers.
  • Drive the increased use of data and analytics to drive organisational improvement, effectiveness and to promote sharing of best practices across Global Payroll.
  • Apply an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.
  • Develop & maintain 1st line of defence payroll assurance testing plans to continually identify and assess risks, making data driven decisions, using BHP's risk management framework to build a risk aware culture to ensure safe and compliant performance outcomes in an increasingly complex statutory and regulatory landscape.
  • Implementing controls to ensure the ongoing country adherence to BHP’s global payroll process design and standards, across all country payroll teams globally.

About You

 

  • Singnificant expereince in leading large-scale payroll with detailed operational & regulatory knowledge.
  • Experience of leading a large-scale payroll with detailed operational & regulatory experience and implementing Global Payroll transformation projects and large-scale payroll projects (e.g. payroll outsourcing, implementation of local regulatory changes).
  • SAP payroll experience.
  • Experience of identifying operational risk and implementing controls to mitigate such risk within payroll.
  • Payroll vendor management experience.
  • Experience of empowering, coaching, and mentoring colleagues to ensure the team’s objectives can be achieved.
  • Sound judgmental skills to identify and resolve challenges and issues that protect and enhance BHP’s values, reputation, and commercial interests.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
