Location
The role will be based at Port Hedland on Residential (5/2) or FIFO basis (5/2/4/3) roster options.

About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management (HSSEM) you will be responsible for a small team providing management and direction in the delivery of HSSEM business support and improvement initiatives for HSSEM within WAIO for Port and Rail. This role requires a high level of strategic thinking which translates into operational practices.
With a business partner mindset, balanced with a strategic yet pragmatic approach you will:
- Provide support, advice and direction on all matters related to HSSEM
- Review, develop and implement the HSSEM strategy alongside the WAIO HSSEM management team
- Through the HSSEM team cascade the strategy to Operational level, tailoring to the context, risk, and operating environment unique to each site / location
- As a leader in the HSSEM team, maintain effective stakeholder relationships across your areas of influence
- Develop, implement, and maintain WAIO HSSEM policies, systems, and processes
- Monitor HSSEM performance, linking performance to HSSEM risk management and improvement initiatives
- Continuously develop HSSEM capability through coaching, talent management and people strategies
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Passion for safety and a culture of care
- Experience guiding teams creating an engaging and supportive performance culture
- Proven stakeholder management capability
- Understanding and successful implementation of change management and management of change
- High level communication and influencing skills, including the ability to produce quality, concise reports and presentations
- Strong influential and engagement skills to generate ideas and lateral solutions
- Ability to influence by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
- Tertiary degree in a health, safety, security and emergency management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSS related risks
- Experience in the mining industry and relevant legislation
