About You

 

 

The BHP Innovation Leaching facility is an on-site facility at Escondida where BHP performs test work to support leaching technology development, leaching studies and capital projects, and operational metallurgical testing. 
The Manager Innovation Leaching role is responsible for managing this facility, leading a multifunctional team to operate and manage the facility across all elements of operation and safety, maintenance, finance, and strategy.

 


 
About the role:

 

  • Lead a team of professionals who together deliver the safe operation and strategic and financial planning for the BHP Innovation Leaching facility at Escondida.
  • Overriding commitment with Health, Safety and Environment standards and BHP charter values.
  • Ensure delivery of test work plans according to quality, cost, and schedule as agreed with customer.
  • Define the mid- and long-term strategy for the facility, including planning for facility use, capacity and demand, and identification of new clients.
  • Applies an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model, and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity, and value chain performance.
  • Accountable for maintenance and asset integrity of facility to ensure safe and reliable operation across all time horizons.
  • Manage annual Budget and mid-term financial plans for the facility, including development of Budgets and ongoing management of income streams and costs.
  • Build team capabilities to develop and sustain team excellence in the development and delivery of complex test work programs.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills to engage senior external and internal stakeholders as well as reports at all levels.
  • Build strong relationships and exercise influential role with stakeholders from Assets, Functions, Projects, Study Teams, and Leadership teams.
  • Ensure that transparent and timely information is provided to key regional stakeholders, including risks and opportunities identified during the development of the test work for technology development, Assets, and Studies and Projects.
  • Based at the BHP Innovation Leaching facility at the Escondida site.

 

 

About the Role

 

  • Professional degree in Engineering (metallurgical, chemical, process or similar).
  • Postgraduate studies in Master of Business Administration or related discipline are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience across relevant areas, including: experience in mining industry, with experience in operations and / or studies highly desirable; experience managing test work programs; experience with innovation; and experience leading teams.
  • Fluent oral and written Spanish, and advance oral and written English.
