About the Role

 

 

Manager Procurement Pampa Norte is a key role in the Asset Leadership Team (ALT) in Pampa Norte as well as in the Minerals America Procurement Leadership Team. This leader is responsible for delivering Commercial value in Pampa Norte (Spence and Cerro Colorado), driving supply chain resilience, cost competitiveness and advancing BHP’s strategic agenda through the strength of our external partnerships. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Procurement Minerals Americas. 
 
 
The main duties of this role include but are not limited to:


•    Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.  
•    Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Standards (Our Requirements and Business Critical Documents), Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
•    Strategic category management considering global strategies, creating commercial and social value across the Contract lifecycle to support corporate business strategy.
•    Creating sources of competitive advantage such as cost, improved quality, time to market and service differentiation.
•    Supporting global procurement strategies as well as collaborating closely with the Global Mining &Services, Projects Commercial and Minerals Australia Commercial Functions to identify synergies, share best practices and problem solve.
•    Identify, build and develop talent and capability in Procurement team including creating and maintaining a pipeline of talent for key positions.
•    Manage multiple stakeholder relationships within the Procurement and Asset teams.
•    Building and leveraging internal and external partnerships to negotiate, influence and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes in line with strategic requirements.
•    Supporting Demand to Pay (D2P) processes to optimize full end-to-end supply chain resilience.
•    Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. 
•    Build and implement strategies to mitigate supply chain risks across critical Procurement categories.
•    Lead the identification of programmatic opportunities for base cost reduction and productivity improvements.

 

About You

 


In addition to the above, some attributes of the ideal candidate follow: 

 

•    Global and or Regional Procurement experience.
•    Experience in mining industry developing and delivering asset strategic initiatives.
•    Experience in building, managing, and sustaining strong relationships with internal customers as well as building strong partnerships with suppliers. 
•    Being a key contributor and member of a dynamic and forward-looking leadership team 
•    Experience in working in and navigating stakeholders in a complex matrix work environment, or in a team or organization that spans multiple time zones and cultures– requiring indirect influence. 
•    Experience working in innovative, best practice organizations or business units.
•    Understand commercial strategies to appropriately balance risk vs rewards across the commercial functions and negotiate contractual outcomes.
•    Display strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish and have the ability to tailor communications and interactions to a wide variety of stakeholders.
•    Experience developing teams, successfully led them and supported them through changes.
•    Strong negotiations and deal design skills.
•    Expertise in claims prevention and management.
•    Experience in strategic thinking and associated processes, robust planning and risk management.
•    Relate well with people with an engaging style, which quickly enables building of trust and strong relationships with stakeholders.
