About the Role

 

As the Production Manager at NSW Energy Coal’s Mt Arthur Mine you will be a key member of our leadership team with one of the largest operational portfolios.

Mt Arthur, continues to work through our ‘path to 2030’ with tight integration between our BAU operations and the Transition Project. Our priority will continue to be safe and sustainable operations, our people, and positively impacting the communities that we operate in, here in the Hunter Valley.

This residential opportunity presents a unique and challenging environment to lead a large team through an important phase of this operations’ history, by achieving safe and sustainable production, sustaining high performance levels, and leading our people through a critical phase as the BHP portfolio strategy continues to progress.

 

In this role you will: 

 

  • Be accountable for delivering safe, stable, and reliable operations for the Production department which includes drill and blast, haulage (dispatch teams), mine services, training execution teams and operational crews
  • Have accountability for delivering short, medium and long-term objectives and key performance measures across health & safety and production
  • Review the risk profile for the Production teams - ensuring and verifying material risk controls are appropriately designed, deployed and effective
  • Sets consistent expectations, ways of working and execution of production processes to enable compliance to plan and performance
  • Identify, build, and develop production talent and capability across the team to ensure best in class talent retention and development
  • Be responsible for full departmental cost control through effective management of people, resources and assets

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualified with previous mining experience
  • Highly proficient in translating and executing long and medium-term plans and driving execution performance through multiple production teams,
  • Highly capable problem solver who demonstrates thought leadership and informed judgement,
  • Proven in empowering teams to make effective decisions aligned to the asset’s strategic direction
  • Foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement strategies with financial and commercial acumen
  • Is able to connect and live the BHP Values of Do the Right Thing, Seek Better Ways and Make a difference
