The challenge Ahead

 

The purpose of this role is to provides leadership to a team or teams focussed on execution of construction strategies, standards/ frameworks and integration and interface management across the projects lifecycle to ensure delivery in line with the approved statement of requirements. Translates strategy into operational plans for the department.


Accountabilities with the biggest impact:


• Manages contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.

• Monitors and manages project performance to ensure compliance with safety standards, requirements, budget, and scope.

• Develops integrated project deliverables and incorporates project work across all projects by engaging with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project or phase closures.

• Iteratively explores and reassesses the most appropriate solutions, is accountable for project decisions and outcomes, and monitors and manages impacts to assess them throughout the project lifecycle (e.g., social, environmental, commercial).

• Applies an understanding of the business context, BHP's operating model, and ways of working to improve decision-making, productivity, and value chain performance.

• Implements and evaluates change management tools, methods, data, purpose, value, and strategic direction.
• Identifies and assesses risks, makes informed risk decisions, uses the BHP risk management framework, and fosters a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.

• Identifies, engages, and manages a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

• Makes strategic and evidence-based decisions in accordance with long-term business objectives.

• Understands our customers and is passionate about meeting their needs.

• Strives for 100% safety and customer value, and 0% waste.

• Leverages the capabilities of team members across the organization.

What we expect from you

 

Requirements:

 

  • Civil Engineer, any discipline, entitled.   
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in mining projects and at least 5 years leading teams.  
  • Knowledge and experience with engineering contractors, experience in cost estimate, execution plans and scheduling of small and medium mining projects.   
  • Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office.  
  • Experience in work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.  
  • Mandatory Requirements: English & Spanish written and spoken.
