About the Role (Job Description)

Reporting into the Global Head of Reward, the Manager Reward Australia & Asia will lead the Australian Reward team supporting Minerals Australia and Global Functions to deliver global, regional and local Reward solutions. Responsible to lead local engagement with the business in Australia and Asia, provision of specialist and technical reward advice, and support the team with the deployment of all relevant regional and global strategic reward initiatives, with consideration of the local and regional market context.

 

This is a global search; with the role to be based in Perth, Australia. 

About You (Skills & Qualifications)

You will bring a deep technical expertise in remuneration and benefit programs in Australia and Asia, including ability to think conceptually, analyze, problem solve and drive practical solutions.  Experience with managing a high performing team to deliver and execute global reward activities and initiatives is paramount, while always promoting a culture of innovation, learning and development and continuous improvement across the team.  You will have the ability to influence others to achieve desired outcomes, including being able to work with people across all levels of the organization (from administrators to Vice Presidents) and cross-culturally as part of a global, matrixed team.

 

You are a forward-thinking leader with a strong focus on safety, inclusion and diversity, productivity and maximizing the benefit of learning technology. You are able to translate data analytics into commercial insights and strategic business priorities.

Requirements

Minimum requirements that this candidate will bring are:

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration or relevant field
  • Experience with the management and understanding of incentive plans, bonus pooling and relevant reward and remuneration processes
  • Extensive technical experience in global remuneration and benefit programs as well as strong people management (directly or indirectly) in a global company
  • A track record of building and leading high performing culture and inclusive teams across multiple locations and disciplines to deliver performance
  • The ability to develop strategy, and align stakeholders and teams to drive performance through operating discipline to achieve great results
  • Remuneration and Benefit Certification (e.g. World at Work) preferred
  • Good understanding of HR practices and compensation/ remuneration cycle management
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously while prioritizing and meeting deadline
  • Proficiency in use of the Microsoft Office suite, in particular Microsoft Excel, Project management skills, along with experience in SAP preferred

Accountabilities

Your accountabilities will include, and not be limited to:

  • Manage, motivate, coach and develop a team of remuneration and benefit specialists to deliver world class support to the business to ensure service delivery is compliant, timely and customer-focused whilst maintaining operational discipline
  • Act as a strategic partner to HR and leaders across Australia and Asia, and provide deep functional remuneration and benefits expertise to add value to the business, including the governance and deployment of the global and local remuneration frameworks, policies and procedures
  • Develop and enable Reward team members through leadership and performance management.  Support and lead organizational change through effective change management with the team
  • Contribute to the strategic design and implementation of global remuneration policy, recognition programs and frameworks, with regional and business input
  • As a member of the Reward Leadership team, develop a common global reward strategy and philosophy informed by both the Company strategy and HR priorities, to deliver global reward frameworks and programs to address immediate and future workforce needs
  • Support the Australian Reward team to provide technical and specialist reward advice on:
    • application of remuneration philosophy and frameworks,
    • understanding impacts of reward decisions (including legacy arrangements),
    • resolving complex employee remuneration and benefit queries and be the point of escalation for the business on compliance issues,
    • consistent application of flexible work arrangements and other I&D initiatives,
    • other adhoc remuneration components including the application of reward in industrial agreements, and
    • strategic application of reward in consultation with other HR sub-functions. 

Accountabilities (continued)

  • Provide strategic reward guidance to HR teams for any new country entries, including remuneration program design, vendor appointments, reward compliance and regulatory registrations etc. 
  • Proactively seek an understanding of the relevant external salary market landscape, forecasts and movements and interpret the information for internal stakeholders
  • Support the Employee Relations team with the remuneration elements in the development and implementation of Industrial Agreements
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the Australian Reward and Reward Operations teams in key remuneration activities, including job grading, reward and benefit plan administration, annual reward review processes, pay equity analysis, external reporting, executive remuneration proposals and payments, union agreement support, enquiry management, etc.
  • Lead assigned global and regional reward initiatives including continuous improvement and simplification projects through the development and implementation of common global approaches, while considering and representing the interests of regional and local businesses
  • Support the management of local external vendor relationships and contract management for remuneration, benefits and recognition services to ensure high quality service delivery and prompt resolution of issues; Facilitate the appointment of new vendors in country/location
  • Accountable for compliance with relevant Group Level Documents (GLDs), legislation, agreements and standards
