About the Role

 

Reporting to the General Manager, this position manages and prioritises critical issues and information for the Port Leadership Team to facilitate efficient and effective outcomes. Working closely with managers across site you will lead the annual strategic planning process and monthly site reporting metrics and insights. You will be instrumental in the execution of bespoke sitewide initiatives, while overseeing teams undertaking rehabilitation and pathway programs. 

 

Key Accountabilities  

 

  • Translate corporate priorities into actionable plans, communicating, managing and monitoring the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy
  • Oversee operational activities (e.g. site rehabilitation and pathway programs) to deliver site goals
  • Plan, execute and monitor the delivery of sitewide projects to generate value and drive the achievement of project outcomes
  • Co-ordination of high impact site visits for VIPs (JV partners, board members, customer etc)
  • Make evidence based and strategic and tactical decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives
  • Identify and assess risks, to guide risk-informed actions, using BHP's risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
  • Engage and maintain positive relationships with a wide network of stakeholders across BHP to solve complex issues to drive strong functional/asset integration

 

About You

 

  • Experience in business improvement, operational management or in a senior technical role
  • Exposure to industries concerned with mining, maintenance or processing activities
  • You will have an understanding/exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and organisational change
  • Establish credibility as a trusted advisor and through your strong improvement, guidance, and communication skills swiftly gain the confidence of the Site Executive
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, complexity and delivering outcomes in a matrix environment using your collaboration, engagement, and influencing skills

Location 

 

In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia. The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.

 

The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife. Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park.
