About the Role

We are seeking a forward thinking and talented individual to take on the key role of Manager Technical Assurance across the portfolio of works within the Copper South Australia (CuSA) Major Project Portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to a lead team of technical professionals providing assurance over the delivery of technical outcomes across a large portfolio. The role will be responsible for identifying technical risk and opportunity to inform the development of assurance activities to ensure effective and efficient technical outcomes at both an investment and portfolio level. The role will provide leadership to a highly skilled and diverse technical team, including discipline engineers and quality resources.  

 

The role is based in Adelaide, reporting directly into the Director Technical CuSA Major Projects and will sit on the CuSA Major Project Technical Lead Team.

 

Key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Support the development and execution of engineering and quality assurance plans for each project within the portfolio based on technical risk and opportunity.
  • Drive technical lessons learnt and efficiencies across the CuSA Major Project portfolio.
  • Build and manage a team of engineering and quality technical resources to execute the technical assurance plans across CuSA Major Projects.
  • Optimise engineering and data management standards in collaboration with asset teams to ensure the requirement for our external partners is clear.
  • Conduct engineering tasks, verify construction methodologies and advise on engineering decisions for projects in alignment with Project/Construction/Commissioning Engineering Standards.  
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions, use BHP's risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. 
  • Mitigate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.
  • Apply existing technical knowledge and principles to facilitate development of alternative solutions for projects, problems and opportunities to maximise capital efficiency.
  • Working in a proactive business culture with a supportive management structure, and leveraging off your extensive experience, you will have the chance to promote business excellence through your team and you'll make full use of your broad range of skills in the areas of continuous improvement, technical knowledge, business acumen and communication. 

About You

  • You will have 15 + years’ experience with tertiary qualifications in Engineering with relevant experience in Project Management.  
  • With previous experience in a similar senior technical role, you will have managed and developed teams and be confident in working within a complex environment. 
  • As an experienced professional with a passion for guiding, developing and influencing teams and individual team members through mentoring and coaching you will bring strong leadership abilities with a demonstrated ability to lead a team that delivers high performance.
