About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Steel and Ferrous Minerals Analyst to provide in-depth market analysis, forecasts, and strategic insights covering the Indian and Ex-Asian steel markets. The ideal candidate will have strong commodity analysis skills, excellent communication, be a good team player, and have curiosity to learn.
Key Accountabilities
- Monitor and analyze trends in steel production (including pig iron and DRI), demand, pricing, profitability, decarbonization and trade policies across India and Ex-Asia markets.
- Track ferrous raw materials supply-demand dynamics in India.
- Conduct primary and secondary research, assessing the impact of thematic topics, e.g. tariff, trade regulation, steel decarbonisation trend, and translate these findings into insightful reports and long-term forecasts.
- Lead the internal analytical exercises such as steel demand and supply model, steelmaking margin model, steel-making emissions and energy-consumption model, and steel price forecasting for select regions.
- Supporting a diverse array of BHP’s internal stakeholders by providing regular news wrap / reports / narratives / forecasts related to the aforementioned themes.
- Deliver PowerBI dashboards serving the regular data needs of various stakeholders.
- Conduct presentations to internal and external stakeholders (opportunity-based).
About You

Demonstrates commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct.

Advance quantitative and qualitative research and analysis skills.

A track record of working in the commodity analysis, preferably in the ferrous market.

The ability to extract actionable insights under conditions of uncertainty and time pressure.

Excellent English written, presentation and stake-holder management skills.

Proficient excel modeling and Power BI skill.

Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, with postgraduate qualifications preferred.
