Our Operations - Carrapateena

 

Located 472 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia, Carrapateena is part of our Minerals Australia operations, within the Copper South Australia province. The mine is located on the traditional land of the Kokatha people. Carrapateena produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest mining projects in South Australia in the last decade. 

 

Please note this position is based at Carrapateena, operating on an 8/6, 7/7 day/night roster pattern arrangement with FIFO from Adelaide OR Port Augusta.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

 

Reporting to the Underground Material Handling System (MHS) Supervisor, the Belt Technician is a key role in ensuring that the operational tasks associated with the MHS system are carried out safely and effectively to support Carrapateena in achieving their production targets.  The MHS system consists of conveyors, transfer chutes and feeders which are located underground and on the surface.  The role also focuses heavily on housekeeping standards in these areas and basic conveyor belt inspections and maintenance

 

In this role you will:-

 

  • Integrate with Maintenance counterparts to ensure effective, pro-actively planned maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime
  • Ensure daily operational tasks are completed and job history recorded in SAP.
  • monitor conveyor belt operation, identifying issues and escalating to maintenance team in timely manner
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards for all the equipment
  • Assist where required in the permit to work system, including helping update documents relating to specific tasks.
  • Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress

 

  

ABOUT YOU

 

Our successful candidate: --

  • Background as a Conveyor Belt Technician or Conveyor Scraper Technician
  • Strong knowledge of conveyor belt systems including belt tracking, skirting, and cleaners/scrapers
  • Experience performing routine inspections and maintenance reporting
  • Exposure to working at heights and confined spaces
  • Proven experience working around conveyors systems.
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way
  • Hold extensive experience driving a manual vehicle.
  • Self-motivated, driven and focused on achieving high performance targets whilst always prioritizing safety first
  • I.T, Bobcat, riggers, dogging and crane ticket advantageous, but not essential
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Whilst not essential, experience working with SAP would be of advantage
