About the Role


We currently have vacancies for Mechanical Fitters and Boilermakers within the Fixed Plant West Maintenance execution team, reporting to the Modular Maintenance Supervisor. 

 

You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and operational tasks throughout the Fixed Plant assets at Inflow and Outflow. 

 

The role is residential on the lifestyle roster on Dayshift only (5 days on, 5 days off, 4 days on, 5 days off, 5 days on, 4 days off). 

 

 

In this role you will: 


•    Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development
•    Maintain a high profile in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices to ensure a safe working environment
•    Undertake preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with maintenance planning systems and recommending appropriate follow-up action
•    Work from schematic drawings, prints, plans or manuals, and recording any modifications 
•    Repair and service fixed plant equipment 
•    Carry out all activities within the whole-of-job scope, including pre-work, preparation of JHAs and organizing materials, execution, testing and completion of tasks
•    Provide Feedback to Supervisor on inspections completed (PM02’s)
•    Ensure operational discipline in 1SAP Work Management practices, from raising of notifications, execution of Work Orders on both planned and unplanned situations 
•    Assist in delivering planned maintenance to drive a safe and reliable plant through diligent work execution and plant improvements
•    Coach and mentor other team members and apprentices to deliver on plan and build a high performing team

 

About You

•    Australian Recognised Mechanical Fitting, or Metal Fabrication (Boilermaker) trade certificate, or equivalent (essential) 
•    C Class Driver’s License
•    Confined space
•    Working at Heights
•    Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safe systems of work
•    Experience with 1 SAP or similar systems is highly advantageous but not essential
•    Ability to adapt and work within planned or breakdown maintenance environments
•    Proactive with belief in the value that maintenance can bring to an organisation
•    Team focused and able to work collaboratively
•    Self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously when needed

 

 

Location 
 
In this residential role you will be based in Newman, Western Australia on a lifestyle roster pattern.  You will be working at the closely located ‘Mount Whaleback’ mine site, which is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. The 7,000 strong population of Newman enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised town centre and sporting facilities.  As a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to spectacular gorges, water holes and stunningly unique landscapes. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
