About the Role 

We are currently seeking safety focused Mechanical Fitters to join our team on a Dynamic 182 roster flying from Perth. More information on the Dynamic roster can be found here. 

• Inspection, servicing, adjustment, troubleshooting and repair of balance machines 

• Ensuring clear communication across team members and to the Supervisor in regard to downtime and trouble areas 

• Following specific maintenance strategies and procedures 

• Overriding commitment to BHP Charter, health, safety, environment, and sustainable development 

• Ensuring that all documentation and data entry is accurately completed 

• Maintaining a high-level working knowledge of safety processes. 

About You 

Key Responsibilities & Requirements 

• Carry out mechanical maintenance on ship loaders, reclaimers and stackers, including major component change-outs such as slew bearings, bucket wheels and luff cylinders. 

• Hold a relevant trade qualification – Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade). 

• Maintain a strong safety focus and commitment to safe work practices. 

• Work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines in a team environment. 

• Use tools, machinery and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mechanical plant and equipment to operational standards. 

• Identify defects and worn mechanical components, ensuring timely corrective action. 

• Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical alignments and precision work. 

• Apply strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. 

• Accurately capture and record data based on inspection findings and maintenance activities. 

• Competent in using maintenance management systems and digital tools for reporting and documentation. 

• Highly motivated, eager to learn and committed to ongoing self-improvement.
