About the Role
We are seeking safety-focused and experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our Fixed Plant team based in Port Hedland on a Dynamic 182 roster. A Dynamic 182 roster is similar to a shutdown schedule, comprising 182 shifts per year. Shifts will vary based on operational demand; however, as a permanent employee, you will receive consistent fortnightly pay regardless of the number of shifts worked.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including but not limited to pulleys, gearboxes, and electrical drive motors.
- Execute change-outs, servicing, and inspections of mechanical components in line with maintenance strategies and procedures.
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to the BHP Charter, health, safety, environment, and sustainable development.
- Ensure accurate completion of documentation and data entry.
- Scope work methodology and update work instructions as required.
- Share expertise to enhance team capability and conduct quality control verifications pre- and post-task execution.
About You

- A Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience with fixed plant rotating equipment, including pulleys, gearboxes, and electrical motors (highly regarded).
- Skills in bearing and coupling fitment and precision alignment of rotating equipment (highly regarded).
- Rigging experience, particularly on conveyor systems (highly regarded).
- Knowledge of lubrication and hydraulic systems (desirable).
- Strong safety focus and proactive problem-solving capability.
- Experience with 1SAP or similar maintenance management systems (desirable).
- Understanding of WAIO Isolation & Barricading procedures or similar industry standards (desirable).
- Ability to identify defective mechanical components or equipment.
- Section 26 certification (advantageous).
