One of Australia's largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.
Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 day/night, or days-only roster pattern roster arrangement with residential, FIFO ffrom Adeelaide and DIDO options available for country SA.
About the Role
An opportunity exists for a qualified Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work within our Olympic Dam asset, performing planned, unplanned and breakdown maintenance activities within the Refinery plant of our surface operations.
The position of the Maintenance Execution Refinery will form part of a multi-functional and diverse team supporting the Surface Maintenance department to safely and efficiently achieve departmental and BHP Olympic Dam business objectives.
In this role you will:
- Comply to and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
- Develop close working relationships with operations personnel to ensure that all plant downtime issues are escalated correctly and remedied promptly
- Provide continual feedback to the maintenance supervisor on job/task progress
- Have a commitment to look after your own and the teams wellbeing, confidence to mentor safety related issues and speak up to coach and prevent harm
- Be responsible for the execution of activities across shifts and other departments in order to safely add value and improve efficiencies
- Provide technical expertise within the maintenance team whilst facilitating preventative and reactive maintenance activities
- Foster collaborative and productive working relationships across all internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate an overriding commitment to working in and promoting a healthy, safe, environmentally responsible and sustainable workplace
- Be active in identifying and communicating improvements to procedures, processes or plant and participate in problem solving and troubleshooting of plant issues as required
About You
- Minimum Australian recognised trade level qualifications within a mechanical discipline
- A proactive Safety mindset and the willingness to improve the way we work as a team
- Has a high drive to develop ones skills to provide additional skill resources to the team
- Previous 1SAP Experience would be beneficial
- Previous experience working with hydraulic systems preferred
- Sound computer skills
- Experience in technical fault finding and continuous improvement activities
- Previous experience and qualifications to working with hazardous area environment
- Previous shift work experience
- Ability to operate across multiple work-fronts ensuring you maintain and clean and tidy workplace
- Understanding of Quality Assurance principles and associated systems and practices
- Production line manufacturing experience is preferable including robotic systems
- Can demonstrate a high level of maintenance optimisation and strategy frequency change reviews
- Perform well with a high performing team with limited time to make good smart decisions based on the condition that arise
- Ability to use and pull resources to make good team and business decisions where needed
