About the Role

 

Reporting to the Lead Strategy Engineer, you will ensure the planned maintenance strategies are developed, implemented, and delivered successfully. You will also be responsible for providing specialist advice and undertaking reliability improvements focused on the end-to-end maintenance function, inclusive of defects in parts, procedures, work quality, and processes.

Your expertise will benefit the Hydromet Solvent Extraction (SX) and Tails Retention System (TRS) Circuit amongst other areas.

 

 

This role is Adelaide-based with site travel to Olympic Dam (as required).

 

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Demonstrate strong safety values by supporting the Field Leadership program to lead continuous safety improvement and performance.
  • Create and optimise strategies; initiate/approve Master Data requests for updating maintenance procedures and work instructions.
  • Guide and verify adherence to preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Assist/guide in the planning of preventive maintenance works (including deferral and extension of works).
  • Provide input and review maintenance budgets.
  • Produce the operating standards, procedures, and work instructions for the local governed equipment strategies.
  • Review execution results from the current weekly work schedule to support and ensure compliance with preventive work.
  • Initiate maintenance strategies and/or changes to equipment strategies to address emerging risks.
  • Implement/Manage maintenance Work plans to validate the integrity of plant, equipment, and infrastructure per defined standards and procedures defined by engineering and ensure compliance with the plans for equipment strategies.
  • Analyze the life of the plant, equipment, and infrastructure to determine equipment capability assumptions based on the 2-year production plan to provide input into the development of the capital budget for the operation/area of accountability.
  • Develop scope and justification for reliability improvement projects.
  • Validate work plans are in place for critical controls and monitor the effectiveness of the plans.
  • Work with and confirm with critical control owners any deviations of work.
  • Provide technical expertise to the Execution sub-function to support work quality and safe execution of maintenance work.

  

 

About You

 

  • You will consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day, with a proven commitment to the well-being of those around you, demonstrating confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way.
  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent trade and industry experience to support the role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to finding practical solutions.
  • Ability to influence, engage with, and communicate effectively across multiple levels, business units, and functional areas, from frontline employees to senior management.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of BHP processes and applications such as MS Office Suite, SAP/Fiori, D2, SPO, FLEX, MOC is advantageous.
  • Excellent time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Experience with master data, maintenance strategy, and work instruction development.
  • Exposure to and understanding of classified plant/statutory requirements is preferred.
  • Understanding of critical spares and failure modes of mechanical equipment is desirable.
