About IPRO

BHP Iron Ore's Integrated Production and Remote Operations (IPRO) team manages the Iron Ore supply chain via scheduling, forecasting, deviation management, controlling and inventory accounting across mine, rail and port operations.

About the Role

We have several available positions within the Production Scheduling team that fall under the wider IPRO department. Reporting to the Superintendent Production Scheduling, you will play an integral role by:

  • Serving as the conduit between planning, operations and other key stakeholders, providing technical guidance and support that enables both the schedule and execution thereof.
  • Ensuring all schedules and designs consider practicality, productivity and safety considerations, and work packs are created and adequately communicated to mine operations
  • Understanding the economic drivers that underpin both revenue and cost within the operation to ensuring these are effectively leveraged through the mine schedule and designs
  • Ensuring that the mine schedule is well aligned with the supply chain demand (logistics capacity)
  • Ensuring that mine schedules and mine development is well aligned with the long term direction whilst at the same time validating that longer term direction is appropriate to operational constraints.
  • Driving our safety culture through quality field leadership
  • Seeking to continuously improve both efficiency and value of the process through work planning practices and procedures
  • Identifying and implementing cultural and process improvement initiatives within the team/operation
  • Ensuring that risk in the plan or designs are proactively identified, mitigated and where required adequately controlled
  • Ensuring sound engagement of key stakeholders both with regards to gathering plan or design inputs and the communication of plan and design outputs
About You

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline) is desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling would be highly advantageous
  • Diverse experience in engineering, scheduling, and CAD design within related industries such as processing, civil, transport or logistics industries will be viewed favourably
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills are required to influence stakeholders in the delivery of positive business outcomes
  • Mine planning software skills (Vulcan, XACT, Alastri), desirable not essential
  • A C class drivers licence



We currently have opportunities open on a Fly in Fly out basis at across several of our mining operations. You will enjoy outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages including; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court, squash court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, and TV. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

These positions are offered on a FIFO 8/6 or 5/2 4/3 roster, however in challenging the way we work we are also able to offer the opportunity for employees to work one or more days in Perth,  to support our flexible work options.
