About the Role
The Mine Technician is a multi-discipline support role reporting to the Technician Supervisor. This position provides practical, on-the-ground assistance across several operational workstreams including ventilation, Radon Decay Products (RDP) management, drill and blast, mining operations, administration, and project activities. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working closely with multiple teams across Carrapateena’s underground operation.
Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
In this role you will work across the following areas:
Ventilation Support
- Conduct routine ventilation inspections, airflow measurements, and basic fault-finding
- Assist the Ventilation team with underground checks, controls, and planned work execution
RDP Management
- Support daily RDP monitoring activities and data collection
- Communicate anomalies or elevated readings to the Ventilation Supervisor and operational teams
- Assist with basic RAD8 monitoring tasks and associated record keeping
Drill & Blast Support
- Provide on-ground support for blast clearance, tagging, and compliance checks
- Assist with ventilation and fume clearance verification as directed
Mining Operations
- Assist mining teams with general operational tasks, inspections, and area readiness checks
- Support communication between crews and technical teams when required
Projects
- Assist with minor underground project work, including installation, measurement, and data capture
- Provide field support to engineering works and improvement projects
Administration
- Complete accurate shift records, monitoring logs, permits, and basic reporting
- Support document control, data entry, and other administrative tasks as required
About You
- Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proactive commitment to safety and continuous improvement
- High attention to detail and ability to work autonomously in underground environments
- Underground mining experience (highly regarded)
- A commitment to developing safety leadership and technical capability within the team
- Familiarity with ventilation systems or environmental monitoring (desirable)
