The Challenge Ahead

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Mine Ventilation Engineer to provide technical leadership and governance for underground mine ventilation systems across our Potash operations.

This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable underground working environments while supporting long-term mine planning and operational excellence. As the subject matter expert for ventilation engineering, you will work closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services, Health and Safety teams, contractors, and project teams to optimize ventilation performance and support future mine development initiatives.

You will contribute to life-of-asset planning, ventilation system design, risk management, monitoring technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping establish world-class ventilation practices across our underground operations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Provide technical leadership and governance for underground ventilation systems and ventilation risk management programs.
• Support operational and life-of-asset decisions through ventilation planning, engineering studies, and technical assurance activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain ventilation standards, procedures, and best practices across underground operations.
• Evaluate ventilation system performance and ensure air quantity and quality requirements are achieved and maintained.
• Model, analyze, and troubleshoot ventilation scenarios associated with mine development and production activities.
• Provide ventilation input to mine planning, project development, and resource engineering studies.
• Assess infrastructure requirements for primary and auxiliary ventilation systems and support commissioning and optimization initiatives.
• Maintain ventilation network documentation, egress drawings, and ventilation plans.
• Collaborate with Health and Safety teams to support occupational hygiene and air quality initiatives.
• Lead ventilation audits, inspections, compliance activities, and capability development programs for operational teams.

What You'll Bring to the Role

You bring a passion for safety, strong technical expertise, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges in underground mining environments.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong experience in underground mining, with established expertise in mine ventilation engineering.
• Experience supporting operational and project-based underground ventilation systems.
• Knowledge of primary and auxiliary ventilation systems, ventilation infrastructure, air quality management, and underground ventilation risk controls.
• Experience with ventilation modelling software, preferably Ventsim, and underground ventilation monitoring technologies.
• The ability to interpret and develop ventilation plans, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes across diverse teams.
• Potash mining experience is considered a strong asset.

Work Location

This role is based at the BHP Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role will be 4 days on followed by 3 days off.

If you do not currently reside within the Jansen regions, you may choose to relocate, supported by a comprehensive relocation package, or to stay in Jansen's Discovery Lodge while on shift.
