About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Development Engineering, you will be part of a team supporting the integrity, safety, performance and improvement of underground mine development at Olympic Dam. The Mine Development Engineering team directly supports the Mine Development operational team, providing specialist advice, analysis and benchmarking of the Development function's end-to-end performance.  Come and help us deliver 40km of mine development in FY26!

 

Through insight and innovation, you will identify and implement a portfolio of improvement initiatives that enable functional excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement.  It is essential you are able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the operations teams, project teams, other departments, contractors, suppliers and customers.

 


This position is being offered as 8/6 Wed-Wed Day Shift, FIFO from Adelaide to Olympic Dam or Residential in Roxby Downs.

 

 

In this role you will: 

 

•    Support Performance and Improvement using BHP Operating System (BOS) processes.

•    Liaise with stakeholders at all levels to implement improvement initiatives.

•    Build and maintain close working relationships and provide expertise when required.

•    Identify safe operational practices, including field leadership activities.

•    Share knowledge, contacts, experience and expertise.

•    Assess and manage execution, change and project risk.

•    Conduct weekly reporting for Mine Development and Significant Event and Reportable Injury reporting for the Mine.

•    Conduct investigation, data analysis & interpretation to support reporting requirements and improvement initiatives.

•    Be an interface between operations and other functions, contractors, suppliers etc.

About You

 

  • Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or other closely related tertiary qualification.
  • Underground mining knowledge and experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Be able to work independently and have experience meeting individual and team KPIs.
  • Strong communication skills which facilitate effective engagement and communication at all levels.
  • Thorough understanding of the mine development cycle is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in managing and implementing improvement initiatives highly regarded.
  • Attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to work with data.
  • Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Experience with Power BI, PowerPoint, Webex, Deswik and similar is highly regarded.
