About the Role
We're building a talent pool of experienced Mine Scheduling Engineers to support future opportunities across our operations. As a Mine Scheduling Engineer, you will develop, maintain and optimise mine schedules that support safe, efficient and value-driven mining operations. Working closely with stakeholders across planning, mining, drill and blast, geology and operations, you will provide scheduling expertise, analyse plan performance, support critical path activities and identify opportunities to improve operational outcomes. Your ability to develop practical, achievable schedules and align operational priorities with business objectives will be key to maximising value and supporting safe execution.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Developing and maintaining mine schedules and forecasts.
- Supporting critical path planning and schedule execution.
- Monitoring schedule performance and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Providing scheduling analysis and reporting to support operational decision-making.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to balance competing priorities and optimise outcomes.
- Supporting planning and operational projects through technical scheduling expertise.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning processes, systems and capabilities.
About You
You are a collaborative and proactive mining professional with experience in mine planning and scheduling within an open-cut mining environment. With strong technical capability, analytical skills and a solutions-focused mindset, you build effective relationships across operational and technical teams, communicate complex information clearly, and confidently manage competing priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in future opportunities, you'll bring:
- A degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent tertiary qualification.
- Experience in mine planning and scheduling within a mining operation.
- Strong knowledge of mine planning principles and scheduling methodologies.
- Experience using industry-standard software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Spry, MineSched or similar mine planning and scheduling tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship-building skills.
- A continuous improvement mindset and commitment to operational excellence.
- The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and influence positive outcomes.
Desirable experience may include:
- Drill and blast planning or scheduling experience.
- Project or enabling works scheduling experience.
- Exposure to mine design processes and associated technical disciplines.
- Experience managing schedule changes, trade-offs and critical path activities.
- Coaching, mentoring or technical leadership experience within a planning function.
