About the Role
The Copper SA assets are truly world class IOGC assets comprising Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver.
As part of the Planning & Technical Function, the Modelling Geologist supports the Resource Geology team by working collaboratively with other Planning & Technical departments, including Mine Geology and Site Operational teams to support the long-life, low-cost, safe operation of Copper SA assets through exceptional geological modelling, proactive transfer of geological knowledge, and supporting Geoscience products.
This role is based in Adelaide with travel to our sites as required.
In this role you will:
- Undertake geological modelling development and product delivery for Copper SA
- Assist the team deliver appropriate 3D modelling products and technical information to the relevant resource, mine geology and planning teams that operate across varied planning horizons (e.g. five year plan, Study, Life of Asset)
- Work collaboratively with other modelling and resource geology personnel on the Copper SA Geological Modelling products and timelines
- Ensure that geology modelling products are valid, fit-for-purpose, and reflect the necessary geoscience inputs. This will include validation of product against underground exposures, mapping and diamond logging
- Effectively liaise with key modelling product stakeholders and customers
- Assist improve the procedures and workflows that underpin product delivery
- Effectively communicate spatial certainty/uncertainty (confidence) in geological products to stakeholders and customers
- Provide mentoring and support to team members broadly across the Geoscience function
- Maintain a culture of collaborative Continuous Improvement as part of core routines inside of, and with key stakeholders to the Resource Geology team
About You
You will be an experienced modelling and or mining geologist, with underground experience (advantageous). You will also possess demonstrated experience in building complex 3D geological and structural geology models and have previous experience with various 3D software packages.
You will also demonstrate:
- Sound understanding of geological mineral systems, technical geological risk, with the ability to ensure geological interpretations fit-for-purpose and meet stakeholder requirements
- Experienced in coaching and mentoring in building and using geology models
- Sound organisational skills engagement and planning to ensure a product is delivered to appropriate timeframes
- A focus on a culture of health, safety and wellbeing
