About The Role
Seeking applications and expressions of interest for a Specialist BHP Operating Systems and Improvement professional.
Peak Downs is located in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
Reporting to the Manager BHP Operating Systems & Analytics, this position is accountable for implementation of BHP Operating System (BOS) and delivery of operational business improvement initiatives for the site by effectively influencing and collaborating across departments and workstreams.
This position is a leadership pathway position suiting candidates looking to make an impact and motivated to take their career to the next level.
This is a site-based opportunity with potential to accommodate some flexibility.
Key responsibilities:
- Enable a healthy and performing improvement engine at all levels within the operation, whilst focusing coaching activities at Frontline to Superintendent level (L1-L3).
- Assist site leaders with driving the identification, prioritisation, problem solving and implementation of frontline improvement.
- Assist site leaders with prioritised site breakthrough initiatives at L3 (departmental level).
- Monitoring of BHP Operating System capability within the departments and providing the coaching required to maintain and effectively build core BHP Operating System capabilities across the site.
- Build the operational site teams’ ability to problem solve and continually improve their work, replicating and sharing best practice for high impact operational improvements.
- Drives capability and culture around use of the core systems associated with the understanding the health of the ‘improvement engine’ at site. Some examples include Corvus, CoreWork, BrightSpot, MyBOS, WAVE and KaiNexus.
- Identifies, implements, and evaluates the success and value of continuous improvement activities/initiatives that contribute to improved safety, productivity and culture.
- Prioritises work effort and resources in line with site priorities and highest impact for safety, productivity and culture.
- Role model and coach what good looks like with the BHP Operating System practices and tools to continually grow capability and ways of working that drive planned business impact.
About You
We are looking for individuals that possess business knowledge, demonstrate excellence in leadership on a day-to-day basis, effectively influence others, and have a strong ability to build capability in others and lead change.
The successful candidate will be passionate advocate for data-driven insights and process discipline with a bias to action and that is motivated to make an impact.
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Prior operational or professional experience in the mining industry
- Experience in leading change or coaching roles in technical and operational environments.
- Enthusiasm and energy for delivering sustainable improvements through leading or implementing a process improvement or change management project.
- Ability to draw information and insight from data to inform problem solving, improvement projects and clear decision making.
- Facilitation skills to support structured problem-solving sessions with leaders and frontline team members.
- Excellent observation, coaching, and feedback skills to engage team members at all levels on improved ways of working.
- Ability to influence and work with teams to collaboratively problem solve.
- Ability to overlay business strategies / priorities and applying systems thinking and analytics to drive decisions and improvements.
- An understanding/exposure to continuous improvement methodologies, organisational change and business value drivers, preferably within mining.
- You are looking to establish credibility as a trusted advisor and through your strong improvement, leadership, coaching and communication skills.
