About the Role
The Operational Projects Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and execution of the operation’s portfolio of capital and operational projects. The role ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in alignment with operational priorities, while maintaining strong financial performance and supporting the development of high‑performing project teams.
Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 5/2 – 4/3 roster pattern arrangement, with residential, DIDO or FIFO (from Adelaide) options available.
In this role you will:
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, assisting in engaging, developing and coaching the team
- Plan, prioritise and coordinate Operational Delivered Projects in collaboration with Production, Maintenance and Production Planning teams
- Oversee the execution of planned and scheduled project works, ensuring delivery against approved scope, schedule, and budgets
- Apply disciplined end‑to‑end project lifecycle management from initiation through to close‑out, consistent with governance and reporting requirements
- Support continuous improvement in project systems, processes, and delivery outcomes through strong engagement with operational project teams
- Manage and monitor project financials, including planned vs. actual costs, monthly accruals, and reconciliation of Operations WBS expenditure
- Support the management of the Operations CAPEX profile, including Cash Prioritisation and 2‑Year Budget (2YB) planning, forecasting and performance tracking
- Support, mentor and guide Project Managers to ensure consistent, high‑quality project delivery
- Assist in coaching and developing multi‑skilled trades personnel to ensure capability is optimised
- Communicate effectively across multiple levels and disciplines to support strong stakeholder alignment
About You
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Business or a related discipline, or extensive equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated experience in end‑to‑end project lifecycle management, including initiation, planning, execution, close‑out and governance.
- Experience supporting or coordinating project teams, including Project Managers, trades personnel and/or technical specialists
- Experience managing operational and capital project financials, including cost control, forecasting, accruals, and financial reconciliation.
- Well-developed understanding of CAPEX governance, Cash Prioritisation processes and 2‑Year Budget (2YB) planning
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across multiple levels and disciplines
- Proactive safety leadership with a demonstrated commitment to safe systems of work and positive cultural behaviours
- Proficiency with project management and cost tracking systems (e.g., SAP, Primavera, MS Project, or equivalents)
- Experience in mining, heavy industry, processing operations, or other complex industrial environments (preferred but not essential)
- Formal project management certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2 or AIPM RegPM (preferred but not essential)
- Exposure to maintenance, reliability or production environments that closely interface with project delivery
