About the Role

 

We’re experiencing exciting growth and have four opportunities to join our Mine Control team at our Prominent Hill mine!

 

As a Mine Controller, you’ll play a vital role in supporting both underground and surface operations. In this dynamic position, you will:

 

  • Dispatch the underground haulage fleet
  • Monitor infrastructure and equipment status
  • Manage hazard registers
  • Ensure accurate operational data reporting

 

You’ll bring strong computer skills, sound decision-making, and the confidence to manage competing priorities. Experience in a mine control room or similar environment is highly regarded.

 

This role is key to fostering a strong safety culture and may also assist with emergency response coordination when required.

This role is Permanent and based at our Prominent Hill Mine site on a FIFO basis ex Adelaide or Port Augusta.  The roster supported is 8 days on/6 days off, 7 nights on/7 nights off.

 

As a Mine Controller, you will play a central role in coordinating underground and surface operations to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate execution of daily mining activities.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dispatching the underground haulage fleet in line with operational priorities
  • Monitoring machine and location statuses to support accurate daily reporting
  • Managing hazard signage and surface cone registers
  • Validating and updating operational data based on stakeholder requests
  • Overseeing underground infrastructure via Citect systems and coordinating fault responses
  • Supporting emergency response coordination when required
  • Leading responses to unplanned underground events to minimise operational impact
  • Monitoring geotechnical systems and open pit wall stability
  • Coordinating servicing of underground loaders and managing surface fleet data
  • Participating in process reviews, pre-start presentations, and operator coaching
  • Assisting with projects related to mine process monitoring
  • Proposing cost-saving initiatives to reduce waste and inefficiencies
  • Logging and assisting with IT fault diagnosis
  • Ensuring compliance with all operational procedures

 

About You

 

You’re a confident and capable professional with experience in a mine control room or similar environment, and a strong understanding of underground mining operations.

 

You bring:

  • Previous experience in underground mining ie Production operator
  • Advanced computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office and Citect systems
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to drive productive outcomes
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-developed communication skills
  • A proactive, self-directed approach to achieving team and organisational goals
  • Confidence in making decisions with limited information and adapting as needed
  • A commitment to fostering a strong safety culture through open and transparent communication
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and protocols
