Carrapateena copper concentrator has a growing and exciting portfolio of expansion projects and plant optimisation opportunities. We are looking for self-driven, enthusiastic production metallurgist to join our team.
Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 8 days on; 6 days off

In This Role You Will:
- Provide technical input into the efficient operation of the processing plant, accounting for variances from plan, and identifying and understanding losses.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture based on transparent and open communication with the operations and metallurgy teams, leading to the execution of high-quality critical risk observations, hazard reporting and process safety improvement.
- Develop strong and productive working relationships with metallurgical, operational, and fixed plant maintenance teams at all levels.
- Provide high quality and clear technical support to the operational teams to ensure that the process plant delivers to the daily and weekly operational plans
- Implement moderate scale operational improvement projects to increase plant safety, throughput, recovery, product quality and unit cost.
- Undertake process plant performance investigations and implementing improvement actions in consultation with the operations team, engineering and maintenance teams.
- Where required assist metallurgical technicians in operation, calibration and maintenance of Metso OSA and PSI online equipment.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Chemical Engineering disciplines
- Experience in minerals processing, with experience at either a project or plant metallurgist level.
- Previous exposure to operation of base metal concentrators including daily troubleshooting and optimisation of SAG milling and sulphide flotation circuits is desirable.
- Ability to autonomously develop, conduct and interpret metallurgical test work, plant surveys and plant trials, particularly in sulphide flotation.
- Ability to deliver process improvement projects and modifications, contributing to the team’s culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Previous experience in working with external stakeholder suppliers to improve and modify plant equipment and the management of equipment trials and optimisation.
