About the Role

 

As a Plumber (Mechanical Engineering Technician), you’ll contribute to effective day to day operations, conducting all tasks in the safest manner possible in line with BHP Charter Values, BHP Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.

 

You will undertake preventative and breakdown maintenance and operation of Newman Operations site plumbing assets. The location of this role is within the WAIO Fixed Plant Maintenance, Infrastructure Services maintenance team, based at Newman Operations.

 

Roster: Lifestyle roster, 4 days on, 5 off, 5 nights on, 4 off, 5 days on, 5 off

 

Reporting to the Infrastructure Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, your role will include but not be limited to;

 

  • Undertaking preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with maintenance planning systems and recommending appropriate follow-up action
  • Working from schematic drawings, prints, plans or manuals, and recording any modifications.
  • Statutory Inspections and testing on Plumbing assets
  • Statutory testing and monitoring of Potable Water Assets with WAIO drinking water standard  
  • Breakdown and fault analysis, repairs and servicing on site plumbing  assets
  • Carrying out commissioning, fault finding and repair work within the whole-of-job scope, including pre-work, preparation of JHAs, organising materials, execution, testing and completion of tasks
  • Safely carry out isolations in preparation for maintenance and shutdowns
  • Accurately completing documentation, including drawing mark-ups and technical reporting
  • Accurately recording information for quality and reliability reporting; 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance systems and cost saving initiatives
  • Utilising computerised maintenance management systems
  • Undertaking training and development requirements 

 

 

About You

 

Our successful candidate will have the following:

 

  • WA Contractors License highly regarded
  • Backflow prevention (essential)
  • Excavator/ Operator tickets and experience advantageous 
  • Machinery tickets highly regarded
  • Trade qualified plumber
  • Have a proven track record of safety management
  • Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
  • Have previous experience in similar role
  • Experience with Fiori and 1SAP Work Management processes and Microsoft Office highly regarded
  • Minimum of C class manual driver’s license (HR Licence Preferred)
