We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our inclusive and high performing Environment Air Quality team, responsible for ensuring WAIO’s compliance to our Environmental Licences.  This position provides a unique chance to drive the implementation of dust management strategies in an operational environment, positively impacting our people and local communities. Location 
  
You will be based out of our Perth Office with site travel as required to various mine sites within WAIO as required by business demand.  The roster is 5 days on, 2 days off, based in Perth (combination of office and WFH).

About the Role

 

We are looking for a skilled dust management expert or consultant with a proven track record in designing and implementing dust abatement strategies and solutions. In addition to deep technical expertise, this role requires exceptional collaboration, project management, and change leadership skills. This is an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact by delivering high-value projects aligned with the Air Quality Roadmap.
 


In this role, you will:

 

  • Collaborate with operational mine sites to identify, evaluate, and address dust emission and abatement opportunities, developing and implementing actionable remediation plans
  • Coach and support operational teams in adopting and embedding dust management best practices and standards
  • Manage a portfolio of projects to ensure successful delivery of initiatives aligned with the Air Quality Roadmap
  • Evaluate and improve controls by leading internal audits and contributing to the development of new dust management technologies or processes
  • Analyse environmental and operational data to inform decision-making and optimize the effectiveness of dust management strategies

About You

 

  • Expertise in dust management practices and technologies, with a strong understanding of dust abatement controls and mitigation strategies (Dust suppression systems, ore conditioning systems, road conditioning applications etc) 
  • Knowledge of air quality regulations and compliance standards, particularly within the mining or heavy industry context
  • Project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering complex environmental or operational improvement projects
  • Change leadership capabilities, including the ability to lead stakeholders through the adoption of new processes and technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on building collaborative relationships across diverse teams and levels of leadership
  • Experience in mining operations, with a solid understanding of plant infrastructure, site processes, and operational challenges
  • Data analysis proficiency, including the ability to interpret environmental data and apply insights to improve performance.
