About the Role
As a Principal Architect - Cloud Infrastructure, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing robust cloud infrastructure solutions that drive our business forward. Your expertise will be pivotal in shaping our cloud strategy and ensuring seamless integration across our platforms.
This role is part of the Technology Architecture team in BHP.
Key responsibilities
- Expertise: Provide technical expertise in cloud solution architecture, technology strategy and technical design decisions, mainly for the AWS and Azure cloud platforms , network, hosting, cybersecurity and SaaS Solutions;
- Leadership: Lead and develop architecture guardrails (eg. reference architectures, models, design patterns and standards) relating to cloud technology, network, hosting and security architectures;
- Collaboration: Work closely with the cyber security teams and be Technology Architecture representative to review and guide Zero Trust Strategy and Framework, Cyber Opportunity Assessments and inputs to the Cyber Tooling Landscapes and Cyber related roadmaps;
- Assurance: Support ongoing technical reviews through the architecture governance process and provide technical direction for escalated technical issues;
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement for BHP standards, design patterns, reference architecture and BHP architecture methodology.

About You
Technical Competencies:
- 10 years minimum experience in Enterprise and Solution architecture, design & development;
- A solid background in technology as thought leader and providing architecture services in a consulting role and are capable of defining technology architectures within large and complex environments;
- Passionate about technology and innovation, finding novel approaches to solve problems;
- Demonstrate an ability to be customer focused, open to reimagine what is possible, and make complex concepts simple and easy to digest;
- Extensive awareness of architectural patterns, styles and respective trade-offs;
- Strong experience in cloud infrastructure strategies, cloud adoption frameworks, and cloud architecture roadmaps.
- Design and delivery of contemporary layered application/architecture stacks;
- In depth understanding of Public/Private/Hybrid/Multi Cloud solutions and experienced in integrating public cloud into traditional hosting/delivery models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) with a specific focus on AWS and Azure;
- In depth expertise in infrastructure related domains like networking, hosting and/or cybersecurity;
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CICD, IAC (Terraform and cloud native) practices and infrastructure automation.
- Familirity with operational architecture governance concerns – monitoring, resilience, performance, cost.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or higher degrees from STEM schools
- TOGAF or similar certification
- Cloud related certification (eg. AWS, Azure)
