About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Global Architecture, you will: 

  • Develop Architecture Stewardship practices, processes, and tools for Technology Architecture.
  • Operate, maintain and continuously improve governance practice for Technology Architecture Guardrails (e.g. reference architectures, models, design patterns and standards). Lead and chair ongoing guardrails reviews through the architecture governance process and facilitate the resolution of escalated governance issues and non-compliance.
  • Operate, maintain and continuously improve Architecture Modelling Tool and Global Architecture modelling repositories. Perform ongoing global diagram conversions, track usage, value, and performance of the modelling across all regions. Develop new uptake success metrics as appropriate as part of continuous service improvement.
  • Facilitate development and maintenance of Architecture capability and culture development initiatives in Global Architecture. Operate, maintain and continuously improve Capability Development tools, learning curriculum and drive learning embedment into Architecture development plans in alignment with Learning Hub and Digital U Programs.
  • Work closely with the cyber security teams to support appropriate embedment and consolidation of secure & architecture process and tools. Manage changes to existing Architecture Governance processes by communicating to impacted stakeholders.
  • Maintain and continuously improve Architecture templates, guides, and charter for bi-modal project delivery – Agile and Waterfall. 
  • Operate, maintain and continuously improve architecture assessment SLA (Service Level Agreement) non-compliance, data quality and handle requests and escalations from Regional Panel Chairs and Admins.
  • Conduct Global Architecture Services Surveys and support external appraisals for qualitative and quantitative input into Architecture Practice when compared to industry benchmark and drive teams to improve in identified areas.
  • Coordinate and monitor improvements to the Architecture Stewardship practice with Regional Architecture, Enterprise & Global Architecture, Technology Strategy and Digital Factory teams. 
  • Coach and mentor Regional and Digital Teams and build awareness of BHP Guardrails, Architecture Capability and Architecture 

About You

Technical Competencies 

  • 5+ years minimum experiences in Enterprise and Solution architecture, design & development
  • Passionate about technology and innovation, finding novel approaches to solve problems. You thrive in a collaborative and innovative culture and want to join a team that values problem solvers, the kind of people who reimagine the possible for their regional teams and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be customer focused, open to reimagine what is possible, and make complex concepts simple and easy to digest
  • Are motivated by personal growth and accountability, with a desire to build strong relationships within the regional teams
  • Moderate awareness of architectural patterns, styles, and respective trade-offs.
  • foundational skills in Architecture Modelling experience using Archimate notation and Enterprise Architecture modelling toolset (e.g. iServer)
  • Foundational skills in System Design & Selection, Solution Options Evaluation, Strategy & Roadmap Development and Reference Models & Architecture Development
  • Work closely with Cyber security to help develop and evolve the company's cloud security strategy.
  • Experience of working in a close Agile / Scrum team to deliver high value focused solutions with velocity 



  • Bachelor or higher degrees from STEM schools
