About the Role
We are currently seeking experienced technical professionals with expertise in Mobile Equipment Asset Management to express their interest and apply for an exciting opportunity within our MECoE team.
As a Principal Asset Management – Mobile Equipment, you will play a pivotal role in aligning asset strategies across BHP’s operations, functions, and assets. Your work will ensure a unified approach to managing mining equipment assets and that equipment selection supports our long-term operational and sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mobile fleet analysis, including whole-of-life and productivity modelling
- Conduct life cycle and economic analysis to drive investment decisions.
- Forecast major component and asset replacements.
- Perform project cost analysis to support executive decision-making.
- Review component history, budget alignment, and capitalization status of asset requests.
- Financial modelling and evaluation of vendor submission for pricing and engage with internal stakeholders to align mobile fleet capital requirements.
- Ensure asset depreciation aligns with residual values and current assets.
- Utilize SAP and Asset Management System’s data validation and performance monitoring
- Enhance system reporting capabilities and drive process automation.
- Contribute to the development of Power BI reports for asset management.
This role offers a global perspective on equipment planning and plays a critical part in decisions related to repurposing, redeployment, procurement, and retirement of capital equipment. Your insights will directly support production demands and our decarbonization objectives.
About You

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Proven experience and strong skills in forecasting and budgeting, with the ability to support strategic planning and financial decision-making.
- A solid understanding of holistic asset management principles, including practical experience in life cycle costing and familiarity with Asset Management Fundamentals
- Proven experience with mobile mining equipment, including its application, maintenance engineering, and/or technical studies.
- A degree in a technical or engineering discipline is required, and additional qualifications or certifications in finance will be highly regarded.
- Sound technical knowledge of Caterpillar, Sandvik, Komatsu, and Liebherr equipment—both diesel and battery-electric are highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate data into compelling narratives.
- Advanced presentation and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders effectively.
- A collaborative mindset, capable of navigating complex stakeholder environments and conducting in-depth technical analysis.
