About the Role


Goonyella Riverside mine is on an exciting journey as the world’s largest autonomous coal mine and is currently expanding its Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) AH Control Room operations to include two (2) principal autonomous haulage experts. Using your subject matter expertise in Komatsu Frontrunner or alternative AH Fleet Management Systems, you will play a pivotal role in integrating AH Control Room operations, control system, with operational management of the open cut pit.

You will assist in building autonomous haulage capability both inside the control room and within operations in the pit, driving key enabling activities and improvement initiatives to unlock the true potential of AH. The role will require focus on operational discipline, alignment of site priorities and effective change management practices.


In this dynamic role, you will:
 

  • Own and drive the delivery of key initiatives for AH control integration and application of Komatsu Frontrunner to the Goonyella Mine environment
  • Champion upskilling programmes for AH Control Team Trainers, Supervisors and Controllers, lending your subject matter expertise to enable continuous development of controller and trainer skill level, raising Goonyella to a new industry benchmark for control skill.
  • Foster a culture of a one-team environment, standardisation, alignment and best-practice implementation across all crews within the AH Control room and pit teams.
  • Conduct extensive change management activities, including but not limited to front line engagement, field work, risk assessments, consultation with and presentation to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the BHP Values and key BOS pillars for sustainable continuous improvement
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, senior leaders and OEM, building trust and inspiring action through data, progress reporting and clear concise outcomes.
  • Work a 7/7 Dayshift Only Roster, 12hr days. flexible travel options available or local to Moranbah.

About You


We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our IOC GRM AH Control team in a critical site-enabling role. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with the Komatsu Frontrunner system in conjunction with a solid foundation in open cut coal mine production operations.

Ideally, you will possess:

 

  • Extensive experience in the Komatsu Frontrunner AH System is desirable or;
  • 5 years’ experience in Modular FMS in conjunction with at least 3 years’ experience in Autonomous Haulage Operations (other AH FMS systems will be considered)
  • A solid technical understanding of open cut coal operations, including loading operations, dump set-up, mine progression, interaction management and mine planning processes
  • Experience training and assessing, with a Trainer/Assessor National Certificate an optional bonus
  • Change management experience in technical and complex changes involving multiple stakeholders, innovation implementation and the ability to respectfully challenge the status quo
  • The ability to engage and influence a variety of stakeholders from front line operations to GM level, with effective communication is essential for this role
