About the Role

 

Reporting through to the Superintendent Asset Sustainability, this role provides technical expertise in the strategic management and engineering of environment related issues, provisions and initiatives across Copper SA .

 

 

This position is based in Adelaide on a Monday – Friday basis, with flexibility.  Occasional site travel will be required.

This role will be offered as a 2 year fixed-term opportunity.

 

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Manage Copper SA Asset’s environmental monitoring programs in relation to site activities for specific discipline
  • Train, mentor and assist site team members to undertake specific discipline monitoring activities
  • Provide Subject Matter Expert specific discipline support to project and operational teams
  • Manage, report and analyse the specific discipline database/s
  • Lead and review specific discipline modelling and make recommendations to inform project studies and statutory approvals team
  • Monitor performance, policy and legislative changes, as well as industry performance and benchmarks
  • Coordinate Asset-level data collection, internal audits, external assurance and gap closure for SME discipline
  • Provide/maintain EMS processes and aspects and impacts to meet licencing, public commitments, external reporting and statutory permitting requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant external (government, industry bodies, environmental consultants, traditional owners, pastoralists, non-government organisations) and internal stakeholders to ensure problems are addressed and resolved effectively and in a timely manner
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. 

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environment, Environmental Engineering or an aligned discipline
  • Significant and relevant industry experience in Ecology, Biology or aligned
  • Experience in planning, delivering and reporting on Biological surveys
  • Knowledge and application of environmental law, approval processes and standards, including ISO14001
  • Demonstrated understanding of ecological processes with South Australian exposure and arid region preferred
  • Understanding of Biological survey techniques and experience in field sampling
  • Contract management experience
  • Experienced working with ArcGIS, SAP MS Access and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to influence at multiple levels in an organisation.
  • Forward thinking and an energetic and proactive work style, with the confidence to prioritise and influence outcomes
