About the Role

BHP WAN is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Closure Planning team as a Principal Closure Rehabilitation, with the ability to make long term positive change across our WAN Operations.

You will be joining a lean team of subject matter experts, who work collaboratively and celebrate diversity of thought to deliver both traditional and novel closure studies and outcomes across a range of mining and heavy-industrial brown field sites. We are looking for someone who can both dive into the detail and think laterally to find “blue sky” opportunities for post-mining land uses.

The ability to identify opportunities for progressive rehabilitation, form long-term program strategy, and respond in an agile manner to execution opportunities will be fundamental to the role. Holistic closure planning experience will be required to inform decision making, and contributions to the WAN mine closure legacy and vision. Experience working across a diverse range of stakeholders, and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with Traditional Owner stakeholders and vendors will be looked upon favourably.

Role Purpose - Provides technical expertise regarding the development and execution of progressive rehabilitation activities, and long-term post-mining rehabilitation and post-mining land use requirements to support the development of a robust closure strategy that is integrated into business plans to deliver economically, socially and environmentally sustainable outcomes.

About You

We have a strong focus on finding candidates with the right values, leadership, and communication skills.

You will have:

  • Experience within LoA closure planning including final land use planning for brown field sites and development of strategic outcomes.
  • Experience developing and leading asset level progressive rehabilitation programs
  • Engagement and collaboration with external and internal subject matter experts to help inform strategic decision making for closure planning specific to rehabilitation.
  • Extensive experience in rehabilitation practices across mining and/or ex-heavy industrial locations.
