About the Role

 

We are seeking a forward thinking and talented individual to take on the key role of Principal Commissioning across the Copper South Australia (CuSA) Major Projects Portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity for a high performing professional to work with a range of senior stakeholders where your contribution will have significant impact on the business.

 

The role is based in Adelaide, reporting directly into the CuSA Major Projects Commissioning Manager and will sit on the CuSA Technical Lead Team. The role will be responsible for commissioning performance and outcomes across all phases on a CuSA Major Project. The role will provide leadership to a highly skilled and diverse team, focused on both the deliberate planning and safe and effective execution of Commissioning. This will include collaboration with Project Functions, external execution partners and Operational Teams, participation in project reviews and risk assessments, development and execution of project Commissioning strategies, assurance over process and outcomes and integration into construction, handover and ramp up. Travel between corporate offices and to site assets will be required.

 

The Principal will be the key driver for improved effectiveness and efficiency within our Major Projects Portfolio, providing leadership to our Owner’s Team resources and influencing our execution partners. As a leading contributor and key advisor, you will deliver on your accountabilities with an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.

Key accountabilities will include:

 

  • Engage, influence, and collaborate with external delivery partners to effectively plan and execute project commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Senior Project and Operational representatives to ensure the successful start-up and ramp up of projects into their hosting assets.
  • Manage change effectively and efficiently to strategically enhance the team’s performance. 
  • Respectfully and professionally, influence stakeholders to drive optimised outcomes, including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Technology teams.
  • Work closely with the other project streams including Development, Delivery, Operational Readiness, Project Engineering and Quality to ensure synergies can be capitalised and lessons learnt leveraged. 
  • Working in a proactive business culture with a supportive management structure, and leveraging off your extensive experience, you will have the chance to promote business excellence through your team and you'll make full use of your broad range of skills in the areas of continuous improvement, technical knowledge, business acumen and communication. 
  • Provide Commissioning Technical Assurance for CuSA Major Projects to ensure it meets internal and external standards.

About You

 

  • Extensive experience with tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a trade qualification, with relevant experience in Project Management. 
  • Proven track record in a similar senior role, with experience managing and developing teams in complex environments.
  • Leadership experience within a major project (>$1B) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence and motivate teams effectively.
  • Strong critical reasoning skills with the ability to proactively identify issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Solid understanding of safe operations and safe behaviour fundamentals.
  • Performance- and achievement-oriented professional with strong technical expertise.

 

This role is Adelaide-based, with relocation support available.
