About the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead the standardization of the social engagement and social investment strategy for Pampa Norte | BHP. To achieve this, it is essential to ensure the implementation and compliance with global standards and procedures; the alignment of the strategy with business objectives, and with BHP’s public Social Value commitments through 2030. This role will be responsible for providing highly technical advice for the social engagement and social investment strategy of Pampa Norte.
Another strategic objective of the role is to ensure the development of metrics, social criteria, and/or long-term social performance indicators for the social investment portfolio, guaranteeing a sustainable positive contribution aligned with business objectives.
In executing the role, the ability to enable access to the territory and build trust with communities through high performance is essential.
This role reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications of Pampa Norte, based in Santiago, with regular travel to operations in Antofagasta Region.
Main Accountabilities:
- Responsible for offering and deploying a social investment strategy and its roadmaps with a 2030-2035 outlook, aligned with business objectives.
- Identify processes, developing necessary procedures and protocols to standardize these processes within the function.
- Propose compliance metrics for the short, medium, and long term, applying surveys and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Responsible for gap analysis and execution of the plan to comply with BHP standards and policies within the function.
- Maintain the Corporate Affairs & Communications risk register and developing management plans for critical issues arising from identified risks, designing preventive and mitigating controls, and ensuring integration with the asset and regional communications teams.
- Responsible for risk action plans and audits relevant to the function.
- Define document management platforms to monitor processes and records necessary to ensure consistent continuity of the function.
- Deploying of BOS (BHP Operating System) within the Corporate Affairs and Communications team at Pampa Norte to ensure compliance with the area’s KPIs.
- Working closely and collaboratively with key internal stakeholders, considering other areas or functions that should participate in decision-making.
- Maintaining and building trust with communities and other stakeholders by maintaining an active agenda.
About You

- Experience in stakeholder management at all levels.
- Proficiency in Office tools.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Understanding of the business and knowledge of risk management.
Accreditations and Qualifications
- Various types of engineering or related sciences.
- Verifiable experience in social project management and control, designing strategies and plans.
- Verifiable experience in process identification and procedure development.
- At least 8 years of experience in the mining industry or related fields.
- At least 10 years of experience in community relations, project execution, and/or social performance.
- Fluency in Spanish; advanced English is mandatory.
