About the Role
The purpose of the Principal Corporate Tax role is to be fully accountable for the accuracy and completeness of tax analysis and execution of complex tax compliance and complex tax reporting for accountable areas, this role is a permanent part time role, working 3 days per week and can be based out of any of our BHP corporate offices in Australia to include Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide.
- Assist and support the leadership, motivation and coaching of the Corporate Tax team to deliver against performance targets, maintain operational discipline, ensure quality of delivery and service and enable high performance
- Work closely and effectively with other Tax Principals and Tax Specialists in Corporate Tax
- Be accountable for ensuring that tax risks and opportunities are identified, quantified and incorporated in work processes
- Provide technical support in assigned tax advisory areas and contribute to maintaining a culture of innovation, learning and development and continuous improvement and support Manager Corporate Tax in meeting team KPIs
- Identify and escalate material tax issues and tax risks to Manager Corporate Tax as appropriate and review and manage complex tax reporting and tax compliance matters as and when required.
- Coordinate and review tax positions to ensure accuracy and optimisation for the Group.
- Management of M&A transactions from a tax perspective including the provision of strategic tax insights and the management of tax issues and risks.
- Assist with management of the relationship with internal stakeholders (including Treasury, Accounting and Reporting, Legal).
- Support Manager Corporate Tax with the management of interactions with Regional Tax Authorities
About You
- 7 years of experience delivering complex tax advisory services in a highly complex multinational business and/or professional services firm
- Thorough knowledge of Australian corporate tax rules / regulations and relevant accounting rules / regulations and excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to identify tax issues, evaluate risks and provide risk-managed tax advice and manage implementation of tax advice
- Proficient in tax research across multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage regulatory interactions
