About the Role

 

The Principal – Cyber Delivery is responsible for the successful delivery and governance of cybersecurity initiatives at BHP. Reporting to the Head of ISO MinAU, Functions, CSC and Cyber Delivery, this role ensures effective planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of cybersecurity projects and programs.

 

You will lead work across key cyber domains such as Identity & Access Management, Cloud Security, Threat Detection, AppSec foundations & Automation and Cybersecurity digital foundations (including AI). This role requires strong stakeholder engagement and alignment with BHP’s Cybersecurity Strategy, working closely with Cybersecurity SMEs, Risk, Technology, and Vendor Management to ensure high-quality, timely outcomes.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Coordinating end-to-end delivery of cybersecurity projects, ensuring scope, timeline, budget, and risk expectations are met.
  • Supporting governance across the cyber portfolio through documentation, dashboards, RAID logs, and program-level tracking.
  • Managing project execution for initiatives in domains such as Cloud Security, IAM, Detection & Response, and Compliance Uplift.
  • Facilitating collaboration across internal teams and external delivery partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with audit findings and cybersecurity controls by tracking actions and progress.
  • Preparing and improving delivery reporting for governance forums, including status reports, metrics, and steering committee packs.
  • Managing dependencies, issue resolution, schedule management, change control, and financial updates.
  • Supporting onboarding of new team members and contributing to continuous improvement of delivery frameworks and practices.
  • Building strong relationships with government and other industry partners (ie. AISG) for accelerated delivery of digital solutions

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Experience managing cybersecurity or technology projects within a medium to large organisation.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead project delivery across cyber domains such as IAM, Cloud Security, Threat Detection, or Vulnerability Management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, working with security, technology, architecture, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with portfolio governance, risk oversight, and regulatory obligations.
  • Exposure to delivery methodologies such as Agile, SAFe, or hybrid models in a cybersecurity context.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Project Management certification (One of: Prince2 Practitioner, PMP, or AgilePM/Scrum Master)
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to manage risk and achieve results.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or CGEIT (desirable).
