About the Role
The Principal Data Scientist must have strong experience using various data mining/data analysis methods, using different data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. They must be able to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. Some of the essential functions are as follows:
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
- Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
- Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
- This position will also help develop and deliver training modules to facilitate the roll-out of the new or redesigned processes & continuous improvements initiative
- Training and Development - train junior business analyst. Share best practices and develop career progression for fellow Analyst.
Secondary Functions
- Provide business information, analysis together with supporting data.
- Facilitate and help teams to create process maps, evaluate process “as is” state and Identify opportunities to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and business impact of assigned areas.
- Participate & facilitate teams to redesign assigned business processes including new process maps, procedures, develop and deliver associated training modules, communicate process changes.
- Lead automation of data flows & analysis.
- Share identified best practices across all relevant functions
- Communicate effectively with influence, and gain support from all levels of the organization on large scale business process changes.
- Participate on process audits and help institute process metrics to assess current process health of complex business processes.
- Relationship management
- Strong relationship needed with business, developers and system owners, to be able to navigate data form different platforms to provide optimum results
About You
- Candidates should hold a technical engineering or computer science degree or statistics or business math. Possessing or pursuing MBA or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
- Candidates should possess 5 years Data Science experience and be well familiarized with the project lifecycle concepts. Must have extensive relevant experience in building systemic solutions.
- Must have extensive programming experience in SQL, PL/SQL, Tableau, Python, R-programming, and other computer languages.
- Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- PowerBI / Tableau Experience
- Experience working with and creating data architectures (good to have).
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
- Demonstrates leadership skills – as shown in the ability to influence others and supervise others directly or indirectly through Project work.
- Flexible, with the ability to manage more than one project at a time and agile enough to be deployed to other teams periodically.
- 2+ years of experience in using AWS cloud and its resources/services
- Strong experience in Relational Databases (MySQL, SQL Server or PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases
- Strong experience in real-time data processing and data ingestion
- Strong experience in batch data processing and data pipelines
