In this role, you will provide **technical expertise in the execution of construction strategies**, standards, and frameworks, ensuring effective **integration and interface management across the full project lifecycle**.

You will add value to the company by ensuring projects are developed **safely**, in compliance with **quality, cost, and schedule requirements**, enabling new facilities and processes that support the project’s purpose and generate value for the business.

You will manage projects in line with defined standards and KPIs, ensuring compliance with approved scope and objectives, and contributing to the successful and sustainable delivery of BHP projects.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor HSE compliance, applying appropriate methodologies and standards to deliver effective construction projects.
  • Manage the construction execution plan, including scope, resources, and access to facilities and services, ensuring delivery aligned with sequencing, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage contract execution and performance analysis to maximize operational and financial outcomes while mitigating risk and exposure.
  • Define project objectives and schedules, identify critical activities, monitor plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage project performance to ensure delivery in line with safety standards, requirements, budget, and scope.
  • Respond to complex interdependencies, taking corrective actions to mitigate risks and barriers to milestone achievement.
  • Develop integrated project deliverables and coordinate interfaces with stakeholders, ensuring effective transitions and phase closures.
  • Define and implement project performance review and control plans to manage deviations and enable accurate schedule, risk, and outcome tracking.
  • Apply risk management processes, conduct risk assessments, comply with standards, and accurately report risks to maximize safety and value.
  • Apply BHP risk frameworks and ICM principles to manage medium to high-risk contracts and provide guidance to Contract Owners.
  • Identify root causes of complex problems, evaluate multiple solutions, and apply structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Bring together diverse teams to implement sustainable, value-generating solutions across social, environmental, and commercial dimensions.

 

What we are looking for

 

  • Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
  • Basic to intermediate English proficiency.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in construction projects, with at least 5 years in large-scale mining.
  • Previous experience delivering mining projects in Chile, preferably in Brownfield environments.
  • Availability to work and travel under site-based shift systems, according to project needs.
  • Ability to work in arid areas, demanding climatic and geographical conditions, and/or at altitude (mandatory).
  • Experience leading technically the Owner’s Team and collaborating companies during project execution.
  • Strong capability to manage and optimize resources, proactively anticipating risks, variances, and scope or quality issues through effective change management.
