The Challenge Ahead
The purpose of this role is leads and support the Area Manager in the delivery of an electrical project.
Identifies and manage project-related Health, Safety and Security (HSS), Environment, Employee Relations (ER), Community and project risk. Provides technical expertise in planning and execution of construction strategies, standards/ frameworks, integration and interface management across the project lifecycle to ensure delivery in line with the approved statement of requirements.
Core Responsabilities:
• Plans (in SPS/DPS) and supports the area manager in the execution phase of a project in compliance with internal and external governance processes and Global Standard performance requirements, to ensure safe delivery of the scope of work within approved quality, schedule, cost and business case KPIs.
• Monitors construction work packages cost, schedule and risk. Performs work package forecasting and provides delivery inputs to monthly reports.
• Conducts the test works on field to support the engineering, leading the contractors to comply with the package budget, schedule, quality and with zero incidents.
• Mobilize to field to ensure adequate preparation of the construction works is in place.
• Supports visits from relevant stakeholders of the project from the field.
• Ensures the timely delivery of any Owner obligations within defined area of scope - e.g. access, accommodation, approvals, permits, water, power, free-issue equipment and materials, temporary facilities etc
• Coordinates implementation of construction strategies, methodologies, systems and execution plans which minimize waste and preserve value. Explores best fit solutions, takes ownership of decisions and manages value impacts within defined areas of scope.
• Identifies, assesses and manages construction risk and constructability within defined area of scope, communicates risks to stakeholders, makes risk informed decisions to identify solutions, uses BHP's risk management framework to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
• Drives best value decision-making to ensure advancement of the defined area of scope while minimising delays and setbacks in the drive to attain project KPI’s. Monitors the delivery to ensure that deviations from the execution plan are adequately managed, communicated, mitigated and rectified.
• Ensure all tie-ins, testing, start-up and ramp-up are planned and executed to minimise Operational impacts.
• Manages performance of construction by 3rd parties within the defined area of scope. Participates in contract tender, evaluate and award processes, and manages implementation and administration of awarded contracts.
• Collaborates with Functional resources to achieve the project’s integrated scope, deliverables, quality, cost & schedule requirements. Integrates and coordinates functional inputs required for the delivery of the project.
• Ensures the project is delivered aligned to the BOS Practices.
What we expect from you
Requirements:
• Full lifecycle project management experience, including works for Minera Escondida.
• Have an overriding commitment to the BHP Charter Values
• Experience in leading shifts in a construction environment.
• Availability for working 5x2 in Santiago and 4x3 or 7x7 shifts in Minera Escondida.
• Be proactive and self-driven, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities to deliver complex solutions across a project
• Good technical and communication skills, including the ability to analyse data and produce concise reports and presentations.
• Team player who operates with honesty and integrity and has the ability to work effectively with others.
Required:
University degree in engineering or similar (electrical engineering or construction preferred).
Availability for working 5x2 in Santiago and 4x3 or 7x7 shifts in Minera Escondida.
Recommended:
Diploma or Masters in Project Management (or equivalent)
Desirable Accreditation: Equivalent to PMI certificate
