About the Role
As the Global Principal Electrical Engineer your high level of subject matter expertise will play a critical role in delivering highly sustainable and predictable business, projects, and globalised technical outcomes.
As a of the Global Technical Excellence team, you will be responsible for technically partnering and facilitating the development, implementation of both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Engineering Service Provider (ESP) strategic improvements on a global scale for our electrical systems, processes, and equipment. To achieve this, you will collaborate closely with several regional and global stakeholder groups to ensure our projects engineering designs and technical output meet the agreed standards of quality, designed reliability, and performance.
You will report directly to the Head of Technical Excellence and your accountabilities include:
• Leadership and Coaching: Coach and support the regional teams in the global implementation of robust fit for purpose electrical engineering practices, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality project outcomes across the business and engineering teams worldwide.
• Process Optimisation: Support in the definition, implementation and continuous improvement of electrical engineering practices, technical assurance, and methodologies, ensuring alignment to applicable industry best practice.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Regions, Projects, Commercial, Engineering Service Providers, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and Service Organisations to ensure equipment or engineering design outcomes are fully aligned to strategic business objectives.
• Strategic Direction: Work with the Global Electrical Engineering Community of Practice (COP), to develop and drive the strategic direction in your area of subject matter expertise at a Global level, including how this implemented, monitored, and fully integrated into our BHP ways of working. This to include industry and market trends that the COP recognise as future opportunities for the business.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with industry / fit for purpose standards, regulatory requirements, internal organisational and engineering policies.
About You
To be a top performer you will need:
• Minimum postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Reliability or Asset Management:
• Minimum design / engineering experience of 15 years or equivelant
• Preference for 6-Sigma certification or similar
• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in industry or associated mining service business.
• Advanced Spanish and English proficiency.
