About the Role
BHP is embarking on a bold step-change in how we source from and engage with New Markets. Building on our commitment to cost competitiveness, supply chain resilience and global capability, we are establishing a strengthened Central New Markets team to accelerate our ambition across capital and operating spend.
To support this ambition, we are seeking motivated, commercially minded, high-performing individual for Principal Emerging Markets role within our Central New Markets team. These roles will shape how BHP identifies, qualifies, and realises value from global supplier ecosystems, working closely with our New Markets hubs, Technical teams, Value Chain teams, and assets.
What You Will Do
- Build fact based, enterprise opportunity pipeline through spend analytics, supplier ecosystem mapping and market intelligence
- Develop Total Cost of Ownership value cases, including should costing, landed cost modelling and risk adjusted benefits
- Lead or support Proofs of Concept with assets and technical teams to validate performance, quality and operational fit
- Drive commercial execution through negotiation support, category integration and SRM activities
- Shape playbooks, tools and repeatable methods that embed New Markets value delivery across Procurement and Value Chain teams.
This role can be based in Australia or in the Americas region where BHP operates.
About You
We are seeking individuals who are energised by complexity, commercially sharp, and eager to build something new.
- Strong project management experience with structured delivery, risk assessment and cross functional coordination.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen, including financial modelling, business case development, value analysis or commercial negotiations.
- Ability to influence across technical, operational and commercial stakeholders without direct authority.
- A mindset oriented towards innovation, global thinking and challenging conventional supply chain boundaries
- Strong problem solving skills and a passion for challenging conventional sourcing approaches.
- Experience in Procurement, Improvement, Projects, Engineering or similar environments.
