BHP's Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence (MECoE) are the coming together of a dedicated, innovative team focused on identifying, achieving, and maintaining the highest standards in maintenance and engineering for BHP globally. About the Role

 

An exciting opportunity exists in our global MECoE Engineering team. We are actively seeking the talents of a highly capable and experienced qualified engineer experienced in governance and technical stewardship.

Reporting to the Manager Engineering G&TS, 
the Principal Engineering G&TS, will play an integral role in defining global requirements and standards, maintain knowledge and application of industry leading practices and technological developments, and nurture collaborative business partnerships to drive key business outcomes.

 

In this challenging and highly visible Principal role, you will:
 

  • Develop, govern, and provide assurance against our global Engineering technical standards, processes, and systems.
  • Develop and maintain trusting and collaborative relationships with Functional, Asset and Operational stakeholders.
  • Actively engage with BHP Assets & Operations globally, providing technical expertise and supporting them with their implementation and management of Engineering global requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in our processes, systems, and technology.
  • Challenge thinking and act as a true conduit for change and innovation within a complex business environment.
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Global Standards, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.

About You

 

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary education in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated relevant industry &/or mining experience in discipline Engineering, preferably 10 years and above.
  • Strong knowledge and expertise on BHP Engineering global requirements particularly across Asset Integrity, Engineering Information Management and Management of Change.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety would be beneficial
  • Proficient in BHP Risk Framework and processes.
  • Experience in Asset &/or Operational Engineering teams, particularly in Fixed Plant equipment and infrastructure is highly desirable
  • Understanding of Asset Management, maintenance execution, maintenance planning & reliability or production processes, is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills with an ability to influence to achieve optimal outcomes for the business within a matrix organisation.
  • Strong technical aptitude and critical thinking.

Ideally the the successful candidate also possess;
 

  • Excellent strategic thinking, situation analysis, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and striving for excellence with an outward mindset.
  • Collaborative attitude geared towards supporting a high-profile global team.
  • Demonstrated success influencing and managing strategic change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering successful outcomes within a complex environment. 

Location and Roster

 

This role is Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth based, and you will be working on Monday-Friday roster. The role requires site travel. Flexible work arrangement is also offered.
