About the Role

 

Are you a seasoned expert in EstimatingCost Control, or Planning & Scheduling? BHP’s Project Centre of Excellence (PCoE) group is seeking Principal Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to elevate our global project delivery standards.

As an Estimating & Cost Control, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of BHP’s capital projects by providing expert guidance, governance, and strategic insight. You’ll ensure alignment with BHP’s standards and industry best practices, while fostering a culture of care and continuous improvement across global and regional teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert review and assurance of project estimates, budgets, and schedules across all lifecycle phases.
  • Define and implement best practices, tools, and frameworks for effective project controls.
  • Champion a culture of care by supporting leaders and teams with tools and strategies aligned to BHP’s values.
  • Drive integration across functions, operations, and regions through strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Make evidence-based decisions aligned with long-term business goals.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.

About You

 

As the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in a Project Control & Analysis (PC&A) SME role within mining or major capital projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering value through expert project controls leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business (Finance/Accounting), Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in Estimating, Cost Control, or Scheduling.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent time management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in project reviews and internal improvement initiatives.

Location

 

The role can be based in Australia corporate offices in Perth, Brisbane, or Adelaide.
You will be working on Monday to Friday roster with 3-2-1 arrangement. Three days from the office, two days from home, one of those days must be a Monday or Friday.
