About the Role
The purpose of the External Affairs (EA) Operations team is to enable and amplify the impact of External Affairs. The team focuses on strategy, analysis, and transformation, enabling External Affairs to navigate its complex and changing internal and external environment and focus on its core mandates.
The Principal, EA Ops Capital Projects will drive and support the delivery of capital projects within External Affairs (ie. The evaluation, selection and delivery of technology solutions) and contribute to other initiatives to build out and maintain EA’s Capital Projects pipeline, partnering with EA’s Technology Business Partners and subject matter experts from within EA to ensure successful project delivery.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across BHP, engaging and influencing with stakeholders across EA, Technology and other Functions as required to ensure successful execution of capital projects.
- Partner with Technology and EA Subject Matter Expert’s and being actively involved in:
- Defining the scope of the project
- Collecting and validating feature requirements, including engaging with end users as required
- Selecting an appropriate technology solution or supporting the build of an appropriate technology solution, including engaging with technology vendors or development teams to keep delivery on time and to ensure the solution meets end user requirements
- Supporting with system integration
- Participate in user acceptance testing
- Leading change management activities for deployment of any solution, including stakeholder mapping, creating communications plans, change management plans and launch plans
- Launching the solution, including directly engaging with end users to facilitate or provide training and creating collateral materials (i.e. user guides)
- Work alongside the Technology PM and Capital Portfolio Coordinator within EA Ops to manage oversight of the project budget, identifying where the project may be at risk and proactively working to resolve any delivery challenges.
- Ensure timelines for project delivery are met and actively work to resolve and / or escalate challenges that are impacting delivery timelines.
- Support across the entire capital projects pipeline, including to create Opportunity Assessments / Business Cases for new ideas.
- Proactively engage with the broader technology landscape to identify technology solutions that may be beneficial to EA.
About You
- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree) in Business or Technology related field is required.
- Proven experience working in a large multi-national organisation, top-tier firm, alternative legal provider, management consulting firm, big 4 firm, or top-tier professional services firm.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 including Excel, Power BI, PowerApps and SharePoint capabilities preferred.
- High data literacy and data analysis skills desirable.
- Workshop design and facilitation skills and experience desirable.
- Formal project management qualifications (Agile, Lean Six Sigma, PRINCE2) preferred.
- Demonstrated financial and strategic acumen.
- Engagement and stakeholder management experience.
